Map And Directions To Reach Us — |

|
1. Leaving The Airport: The airport is outside downtown Chiang Mai on the southwest side. Anyone should be able to direct you from the airport to Hang Dong Road, going south. It’s the major road in the area, and it runs right next to the airport. So, from the airport, find your way to Hang Dong Road and go south until you are past the airport, which will be on your right as you drive south on Hang Dong Road. (See Map Below)
2. South On Hang Dong Road: As soon as you pass the airport, look for the first large traffic light and intersection. Turn right at that intersection.
3. West To 121: After you have turned right, follow that road until it ends on Highway 121. That road, which is taking you to Highway 121, is a large road with a median in the middle. You will be on it for a little over a mile (2 km), and then it will end in a “T”. You are now at Highway 121. (See Map Below)
4. North on 121: Now for the tricky part: You want to go right, which is north, but you can’t turn right at this intersection with Highway 121, so turn left, get immediately into the right hand lane, and look for a small road on your right which is crossing the median. This is where you can make a U turn over the median. The median is a concrete canal, and you will be crossing over it. After you have made your U turn, you will now be driving north on Highway 121, which is what you want. (See Map Below)
5. Jog Right And Keep Going North, Now on 107: Follow 121 until you can’t go any further and you must go right. After about two long blocks, you will come to a large intersection. It is the first one, and it’s the intersection with Highway 107. Turn left. Now you’re continuing north, but on Highway 107 instead of Highway 121. (See Map Below)
6. Go North to Mae Rim And Turn Left: Follow 107 for 2-3 miles until you hit the small town of Mae Rim. (Mae Rim is also circled on the map below.) Just to the north of Mae Rim (as you are leaving town), you cross a bridge, and come to a large intersection with a traffic light. You can only turn left at that intersection, and that is what you want to do. There are also signs at this intersection indicating that this is the road to “Sameung”. You are now on the Mae Rim-Sameung Road, and you’re almost to our B&B. You won’t have to find any more roads.
7. Follow Mae Rim-Sameung Road To Us: Follow the Mae-Rim-Sameung Road for about 7-8 miles (Around 15 km). At around mile 6, you will pass the Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden on your left. It’s about a mile (2 km) from us. You will then pass the Pongyang Angdong restaurant and lodge on your left. It’s about 1/2 mile (1 km) from us.
8. Turn Right Into Mae Sa Ban Doi Subdivision: Once you pass Pongyang Angdong restaurant on your left, watch for the entrance to our subdivision on your right. There’s a large blank (that’s right, blank) green sign on the road, and a smaller sign that reads “Mae Sa Ban Doi” slightly further in off the road. (If you reach a small town (Pongyang), you’ve gone too far.) Turn in to Mae Sa Ban Doi, follow the winding driveway for around 200 yards, and look for us on the left. We’ll also be looking for you. |

NOTES ABOUT THIS MAP AND FINDING CHIANG MAI LUXURY BED AND BREAKFAST
There are a number of very good maps showing downtown Chiang Mai. There are also a number of very good maps showing Northern Thailand. But there are NOT many good maps showing the area immediately outside of downtown Chiang Mai. This map is probably the clearest of any of the many maps we considered.
Your route is marked by the dark black line. The key roads are Hang Dong Road, Highway 121, Highway 107, and we’ve marked all of them for you with big, black, arrows. The town of Mae Rim is also a key landmark, and we’ve marked Mae Rim, too, with a large black circle.
The last key is the road we are on, which is Highway 1096, but nobody calls it that. It’s always called Mae Rim-Sameung Road, or just Sameung Road. They call it that because if you stay on it, you’ll eventually reach the town of Sameung. (Makes sense, right?)
Once you pass through the town of Mae Rim, Highway 1096 (or Sameung Road) will be the first large intersection on your left as you are leaving town, and you will only be able to turn left onto it. You will cross a bridge, come to a traffic light, and there will be a large road on which you can only turn left. That’s it. Right now there also are a number of food stands there, and a few billboards. One of them advertises the Mae Sa Elephant Camp. Stay on that road, enjoy the scenery, and 7-8 miles later, you will be at our door.
Remember to watch your distance on Sameung Road and watch for the Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden on your left. It’s large and easy to spot. The total distance to our subdivision is 7 1/2 miles (15 km). When you reach the Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden on your left, you’re almost exactly 1 mile (2 km) from us.
Go one more mile (2 km) and look for the entrance to “Mae Sa Ban Doi” on your right. Turn in, follow the driveway for around 200 yards, and look for us on the left. We’ll be looking for you, too.

Final Thought: If, despite these excellent directions, you do find yourself, shall we say, temporarily disoriented (lost), don’t fret. Find a landmark, like a hotel or large store, and then call us. (Dial 07-193-4646 inside Thailand). We’ll either talk you in or come get you. Either way, it will be OK! |
